GLOSSARY OF TERMS

Here are some term definitions you’ll find useful in understanding your Interactive Brands affiliate account:

  • CPA (Cost Per Acquisition): As an affiliate you get paid every time a customer you referred makes a purchase. This payment is your CPA and can consist of a percentage of the product price (for example: CPA = 50%) or a fixed sum (for example: CPA = $25 per sale)
  • ROI (Return On Investment): It is common for affiliates to invest their own money in order to advertise products, whether it is through search engine campaigns or other forms of paid advertising. Your goal is to make the most amount of money while investing the least amount. The ratio of how much money you’ve invested in advertising to how much revenue you made in sales is your ROI.
  • Conversion ratio: The ratio between the number of customers you refer to a site and the number of sales made by those customers. The optimal conversion ratio is 1:1 (every customer referred made a purchase)
  • Refund: As in any fair consumer environment, when a customer is unhappy with the product purchased, and the terms of the purchase allow it, the customer can proceed to contact Interactive Brands and request a refund of his money. When a refund is made a deduction also occurs in the revenue of the affiliate that referred the original sale. At Interactive brands we go to extreme lengths to make our products consumer pleasing and in the unlikely event of a refund request will also go to great lengths to satisfy the customer and keep the sale.
  • Chargeback: A chargeback occurs when a customer contacts his / her bank and disputes the charge that appears on a credit card statement. In this case Interactive Brands has no contact with the customer prior to the chargeback action and has to deal with the credit card company directly in order to resolve the problem. The final decision on whether to allow the charge to go through or refund the customer rests with the credit card company.
  • Cookie: A piece of information stored on a customer’s computer every time they visit a product site. This information identifies the referring affiliate so that even if the customer leaves the site and comes back later to complete the purchase, the referring affiliate gets credit for the sale.
  • Unique visitor: A single customer can visit the same site many times but in traffic reports will be reported as a single visitor. A unique visitor / click is one person visiting a site from one computer. A visitor is determined by the cookie imprinted on his browser.
